August is continuing with reasonable weather. Some say our summer has been dreadful this year so far, but, I think it's been alright after the rains in June ceased. I suppose I just look at things in a different way. You can see the beauty in the Highland Landscapes even on a dull day. It most certainly has been warm.
We managed another few trips to Tongue and the excellent campsite. Again we had fantastic warm sunny days and some good sunsets.
The dreaded midge was troublesome late evening when it was still and warm, however we are armed with all kinds of remedies to keep the wee blighters at bay !!
Later in the month a visit to glen Strathfarrar was out enjoyable. It's been a long time since we ventured up the Glen, thankfully nothing has changed, it's still a place of outstanding beauty.
What was quite amazing is that considering the rain we had early summer, Loch Monar was very very low ! It almost looks like it has a coastline !!
I have had an enquiry from the Priory Hotel in Beauly, they are interested to have my photographs in their lovely hotel !!
I have a meeting with them. I shall report the outcome in September's blog.
Evanton has also used one of my Fyrish Monument photographs as their logo for the new Evanton Recreation and Football ground, which I gladly donated in support of the new venture.
Loch Dubh at Ardross is a favourite of mine. Close to home to just pop up when the light is good. The other reason I have paid more interest in the area is the new Ardross Distillery which is being constructed just beside the loch on the site of an old farm.
I was sceptical wondering if it would spoil the landscape and be not very pleasing to the eye but quite the opposite. It is coming along nicely, looking great and they have been very sympathetic with the construction. Im sure it'll look really good when it's complete.
Next month means a slight change in light and colour....Autumn will very slowly begin.
