My America series
I first went to the USA in 1970 and have had a close relationship with the country ever since. I have followed it’s highs and lows with delight and desperation over the intervening years. My daughter and grandchildren live in the USA. Since 2016 I have watched the impact of popularism on their lives and felt that somehow the country has lost it’s moral compass. In 2019 I found a discarded photo picture of the New York skyline, I also had a photo of my eldest granddaughter with her head in her hands, it seemed like an expression of the way the country was heading. I then found a photo picture of what is clearly an American soldier striding away from a scene of destruction. I superimposed my youngest granddaughter in that image. The final image is a reflection of the last four years, with Amelia hopefully dancing into a brighter future.
