This gallery celebrates the beauty of the Three Gorges area of the Yangtze Valley in Hubei Province, China - which has now been completely inundated by the Three Gorges Dam.

The photos were taken in 1994 on Kodachrome 200 and on Ilford Delta 400. The images were taken along the Xiang Xi river (a tributary of the Yangtze, flowing down from the north) and then eastwards through the Xiling Xia Gorge from the town of Zigui towards the city of Yichang.

This gallery will be regularly updated as I have time to scan and prepare more images. I feel that these photos are an important record of a beautiful landscape that is no more.
